If the Imperial River was laid out straight, without bends or curves, it would be about 6.5 miles of waterway spanning Bonita Springs from Bonita Grande Road to marker 1 of the Great Calusa Blueway.
Imperial River East is the section of river that lies East of US 41 which is also known as Tamiami Trail east to Bonita Grande Road. The stretch of river is about three miles in length and offers hundreds of waterfront homes with views of the river and gulf access canals via the Imperial River.
Homes located on the Imperial River East section of the river or canals that lead to the Imperial River are located mostly outside of gated communities. The properties have areas or “legal descriptions” used as names such as Bonita Farms, Heitmans, Quail Creek, Plan of Riverside, Pirates Cove, Gull Haven.
There are only three gulf access, gated communities located in the Imperial River East area: Brendan Cove, Paradise Village and Serrano.
Reaching the gulf by boat from Imperial River East can take anywhere from 40 minutes or more depending upon the location of the residence. The Imperial River is an idle speed zone for boats.
