Waterfront Homes in Bonita Springs - Gulf Access
Everyone has a different idea of what a waterfront home really is. Consumers come from all over the United States, all over the world, to buy Bonita Springs real estate. Since Florida has so many waterfront homes buyers often start looking for waterfront homes and condos.
"Waterfront homes" can mean so many things in Florida. Waterfront can be a home on a canal. Very often, in the mind of a buyer a canal means gulf access but Southwest Florida also has drainage canals. That’s where the confusion begins. A canal home can actually have no gulf access.
Southwest Florida is also home to many lakes. What many people consider a lake here is often more of a pond or retention area here. Most of the lakes are man made in Southwest Florida. In short, homes and condominiums are built on raised fill (dirt) pads for drainage purposes. The dirt is claimed by digging lakes which creates instant waterfront homes and more waterfront real estate.
One of the largest man made lakes in the area is in the community of Miromar Lakes in South Fort Myers. The lake is about seven hundred acres surrounded by luxury real estate and some of the choicest waterfront homes available within the gates of a community.
Prime waterfront real estate is gulf front. Bonita Springs is known as “The Gateway to The Gulf”. Homes on Hickory Boulevard and Barefoot Beach Boulevard enjoy the privilege of spectacular sunsets over the Gulf of Mexico three hundred and sixty-five days a year. This is the creme de la creme of waterfront homes.
Living on waterfront on the Gulf of Mexico means a home owner can walk out the door and have their feet in the sand instantly. In addition to single family homes that are waterfront on the gulf, there are also several gulf front condominiums on Bonita Beach. Beachfront, waterfront living is considered luxury real estate due to the smaller supply available, therefore it is the most costly waterfront real estate.
In the hierarchy of waterfront real estate cost bay front real estate follows gulf front, and riverfront real estate follows bay front.
Southwest Florida real estate consumers have alternatives to pricey beach front living. Several land locked gated communities also have beach clubs where they have purchased a parcel of gulf front waterfront real estate and developed their own, private beach amenity. Essentially, a home owner can live waterfront on a lake within a gated community yet enjoy the privilege of a private beach club membership.
In the Bonita Springs, Estero and North Naples area the following communities have beach clubs or beach access of some sort: Mediterra, Bonita Bay, Pelican Landing, West Bay Club, Pelican Sound, Quail West and the communities of The Brooks. The communities of The Brooks may purchase an optional membership at The Commons Club of The Brooks. The Brooks Communities include – Shadow Wood Golf & Country Club, Spring Run, Copperleaf and Lighthouse Bay. Rapallo at Coconut Pointe has a beach shuttle service.
