Pelican Bay Homes and Condos for Sale in Naples, Florida
Pelican Bay is one of Naples' most established beachfront communities, set along nearly three miles of Gulf of Mexico shoreline in North Naples. About 6,500 residences, from high-rise condominiums to single-family homes, share private beach facilities, two beach restaurants, a resident tram, a racquets program and miles of boardwalks through protected mangrove forest.

The Beach and Boardwalks
The beach is the heart of Pelican Bay. When Westinghouse planned the community in the 1970s, it chose to preserve the mangrove forest rather than dredge and fill. Homes and condominiums were set back from the beach. A system of berms and boardwalks carries residents across the mangroves to the sand. A resident tram runs along the berm to the beach.
At the water, beach attendants set up chairs, umbrellas and cabanas. Two beach restaurants serve residents: Sandbar at the South Beach and Marker 36 at the North Beach. Kayaks, canoes and sailboats are available on Clam Bay and the adjacent beaches.

Homes and Condominiums
Pelican Bay offers nearly every style of Southwest Florida living. High-rise condominiums line the western edge near the beach, with Gulf and Clam Bay views from the upper floors. Low-rise condominiums, villas and single-family homes fill the neighborhoods to the east, many around lakes and the golf course. Bay Colony, at the north end, is a separately gated enclave of high-rise residences and estate homes.
Each neighborhood has its own association, rules and amenities, so two homes a few blocks apart can feel very different. The Pelican Bay Foundation, the master association, runs the shared beach, tram, community center and racquets program.
Location
Pelican Bay sits about seven miles north of downtown Naples, between Vanderbilt Beach Road and Seagate Drive. Waterside Shops, Artis Naples and The Ritz-Carlton Naples are all close by. Bonita Springs is about 20 minutes north. Southwest Florida International Airport is about 30 minutes away.
Pelican Bay or Pelican Landing?
Pelican Bay is often confused with Pelican Landing in Bonita Springs. The names are no accident. The same Westinghouse community development company, which later became WCI, used the Pelican name for Pelican Bay, Pelican Landing, Pelican Sound and Pelican Preserve. Pelican Bay is in North Naples on the beach. Pelican Landing is in Bonita Springs with its own island Beach Park reached by water taxi.

Pelican Bay sellers compete with every beachfront community from Naples to Bonita Springs. A Local's View of Pelican Bay
I know Pelican Bay from more than one side of the business. In the late 1980s, I worked in land and site development. Pelican Bay was one of the places I worked. I remember when much of it was new construction. From there, I went on to become a real estate agent. Since then, I have represented buyers purchasing condominiums in Pelican Bay.
One of the most interesting things about Pelican Bay is its openness. Wide streets, very mature oak trees that create almost tunnels to drive through and the beach club tram that carries you to and from the beach all add up to a beautiful atmosphere. The neighborhood is open for driving through, though some boutique condominium and villa sections have their own gates.
Pelican Bay was the first foray into Southwest Florida real estate for Westinghouse, the company that became WCI. It was also the first of several "Pelican" communities. People often mix it up with Pelican Landing in Bonita Springs. They are miles apart and quite different. When someone asks me about "Pelican Bay in Bonita Springs," I clarify right up front: do you mean Pelican Bay in Naples or Pelican Landing in Bonita Springs?
