A Resident's View of Sterling Oaks

What I liked most was how close everything is. Shopping and dining are minutes away. I will admit I still drove north over the Imperial River bridge to my favorite Publix in front of Bonita Bay. Old habits are hard to change.

Sterling Oaks has two gates. The main gate is on Tamiami Trail and there is a resident only gate on Old 41 Road. Having both makes it easy to head out in whichever direction has the least traffic, which in season is no small thing.

The Hidden Nature Park

Here is something a lot of people never discover. Off Whispering Oak Circle there is a nature park with a boardwalk that takes you out into the middle of a filter marsh. In winter it looks like a prairie grassland. In summer it turns into a shallow marsh. It is peaceful out there. You hear the breeze whistling through the cypress trees. I have spotted deer and even otters. When my grandkids visited, a walk to the nature preserve was always on the schedule.

Clubhouse, Tennis and Everyday Amenities

Sterling Oaks is a gated tennis and clubhouse community. The Club at Sterling Oaks offers Har-Tru tennis courts lit for night play, pickleball, bocce, a heated pool, a fitness center with saunas and casual dining with a full calendar of activities. There is also a playground and a library downstairs in the clubhouse by the gym. We used both whenever the grandkids came over.

I was never much of a tennis player. My favorite spot was a bench across from the clubhouse looking northeast over the lake. On launch nights you can watch rockets from Cape Canaveral climb into the sky from right here on the Gulf coast.

Sterling Oaks offers single family homes and low rise condominiums in a variety of floor plans. Single family homes have one or two car garages. Condominiums offer a carport or a one car garage. Many homes look out over lakes, marshes and nature preserves. Southwest Florida International Airport is less than thirty minutes away.
