Visit Resident Owls River Park Bonita Springs 50/365
River Park, not to be confused with Riverside Park is located on the west side of US 41 on the south side of the Imperial River bridge. Entrance is by the traffic light as you enter the plaza to where the Old Time Potter Store is. The park is comprised of a large loop drive made of shell rock. There are a few boardwalks to tour the marsh or walk to the river.
The stars of the park are a few nesting eagles, a few osprey and most recently a barred owl has been hanging out in the early hours. The park is surrounded by woods and the Imperial River so it is prime feeding ground for raptors and birds of prey. You can easily spot a variety of other birds at the park as well. There is a central filter marsh pond that hosts many wading birds.
In addition to the birds there are several pieces of art strategically positioned around River Park and a covered area to enjoy a picnic or to just sit and read. It’s one of our favorite stops on busy Sunday mornings during tourist season. We pick up bagels at Dunkin Donuts and nosh at the River Park picnic table.
If you are looking for fun things to do in Bonita Springs especially with kids stop by River Park. Entrance to the park is free and parking is free, also. You can fish from the boat docks and boardwalks, also.
