Holiday Lights in Downtown Bonita Springs
You have to see Downtown Bonita Springs during the holidays to believe it. Every year the city adds more to the holiday stroll and the festive decor. It starts when you enter downtown on Old 41 from Bonita Beach Road at Oak Creek. The blue lighted Bonita Springs sign glows at the arch and it sets the tone for everything that follows.
Businesses along Old 41 decorate for a contest so the holiday energy stretches all the way past Rosemary Drive. The biggest concentration of lights sits in the corridor around Riverside Park. The Liles Hotel the artist cottages the banyan tree and Depot Park are decorated at a level that pulls everyone outside. If you go between seven and eight in the evening you see steady groups of people walking taking photos and enjoying the scenery.
A few nights ago a car parked in front of the park stole the show. It was fully decorated and had a working train set running in a loop on top of the SUV. It circled the roof while everyone stopped to watch. The whole scene felt like a holiday movie set.
